Penang Hill ~ Highest point of penang island
A must visit place if you are travelling to Penang. To be at top of the hill, you can choose to be up there by tram/monorail/cable car or to be more adventurous, hike up to the top by foot!
The Trail
There are various walking route to reach the peak, all of them has it unique attractions. Here, I would like to introduce the”Laluan Warisan” route. This route has exist since year 1890, and Penang government has make sure to keep maintaining and upgrading the route. It is a tough route to conquer, where, i would like to describe it to 3 parts.
The first part, stairs! About 1600 of it. The never ending stairs going up was a killer. Be sure to train up your stamina before you attempt this.

The 2nd part, jungle trail route. This part is more fun where you walk through the jungle and the air is cooler with higher grounds and trees, and part of it ropes were needed as it was too steep.

The third part, where the top is within reach, is cooling and most of it is modern tar road.

At normal walking speed, “Laluan Warisan” would take up to 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete.

Top of the Hill
At top, after all the hard work and sweating, just reward ourselves with “ice kacang”!

Not forgetting to take some cool pictures at the various tourist attractions!

To get to Penang Hill Cable Car station, other than taxi/uber, you may choose the Hop-on Hop-off bus to get there. See the schedule here: https://www.hop-on-hop-off-bus.com/

Tips: Hike in groups for safety. There are dogs along the route. Just be friendly to those dogs and you shall be fine.
